Do You Have an Internal Retro Alarm Clock?

When I was a child, we had a retro alarm clock, although then it was just called an alarm clock - the retro alarm clock title came later! It was a relatively large silver retro alarm clock with two big bells that were struck by a hammer when it went off. It performed it's task perfectly, and got me out of bed for school each day. I had to have an alarm to get me up each morning, or I would not have emerged from a blissful sleep in time for school.
Not everyone sleeps like that though - my mother didn't. She would wake naturally, on time, every morning. She said she had been taught a trick by her mother - who also woke naturally at 6am every morning! This trick was to tell yourself when you got into bed what time you needed to wake next morning, and then, bang your head on the pillow that number of times! I tried this as a kid, told myself I had to be up by 7am, banged my head on the pillow 7 times, and went to sleep.
Strangely, this internal alarm clock did work for me on a few occasions, but it was not reliable - so the trusty retro alarm clock was called into service!
